Guild XP

What pays, how much, and why the colours matter.

Guild XP counts what your character does from the day it joins the guild. Your first sheet is the starting line: a level 60 who joins starts at guild level 1 like everyone else. It never goes down, and nothing is ever paid twice.

What pays

Together = with at least one more of the guild in your party and near you: it counts double. Crafting, recipes, skill points and faction standings never double — nobody earns a rank standing in a city beside a friend.

The colours: kills, gathering and crafting

A mob, a vein, a herb or a recipe is worth its colour — the same colour the game shows you. For a vein, a herb or a recipe the colour comes from your skill against what it asks (the table below); for a mob, from its level against yours: orange or red 3+ levels above you, yellow within 2, green below that, gray when it gives you no experience.

  • Every strike counts. A vein mined three times pays three times its colour (up to four strikes per node).
  • A node the addon does not know (the new zones), a chest or a fish counts as yellow — and so does a mob whose level the addon never saw (looted without ever targeting it or seeing its nameplate).
  • Enchanting counts like any craft: the enchant's colour decides.

An example, read off the chat. Exploring Darkcloud Pinnacle gives 210 experience: +3 (experience). The first strike on an orange Iron vein lands with a Mining skill-up: +10 (5 for the orange strike + 5 for the skill point, written together). The next two strikes: +5 and +5. The chat writes the total of each moment; point at the guild bar to see what each gain was.

Levelling your character

Each character level pays more than the last, in fractions as your XP bar fills — that is why a kill sometimes shows +1 and sometimes +2. It stops at level 60.

One act can pay twice. A quest turned in pays its flat quest XP and the leveling of the experience it gave you — “+40 experience” then “+20 quest” is one turn-in. A kill does the same on a small scale: its colour for the corpse, +1 or +2 for the XP. With a guildie beside you, each of those doubles.

The guild level

Each guild level costs a little more than the last, up to level 60. From there every level costs the same, for ever: the guild level has no cap.

The bar in the game counts as you play; the site counts from your sheets. The bar never goes down: if the site knows more (another computer, a mission only the site checks), the bar goes up to it and says “+N guild XP from hashenvale.com”.
